Carol MacKay

About:

Carol’s love of words began as a voracious young reader who devoured the entire Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series and all of Ruth Chew’s fantastical witch books. Now, her stories and poems for children appear frequently in children’s magazines, most recently in The Caterpillar(Ireland), Highlights, Cricket, Ladybug, Countdown (Australia), High Five and Babybug. She was a finalist in the Next Generation Book Awards for her historical picture book, Lily in the Loft (illustrated by Regina artist, Val Moker), and was awarded the 2020 Society of Children’s Book Authors & Illustrators (SCBWI) Magazine Merit Award for Poetry. Carol has been a jury reader for CANSCAIP’s Writing for Children Competition for five years, and a reviewer and judge for the Whistler Independent Book Awards. She has also reviewed children’s books for Quill & Quire, School Library Journal, and other periodicals.

Synopsis:
